LOVED AND GRATEFUL…

By Author- Alisha Prien

Today I am grateful for all the love and support I received during this tough time. It’s during these tough times when all you can do is accept the help that comes your way. This week Spencer was hit with a nasty cold virus which really knocked him. We ended up in hospital for 4 nights straight, whilst little man battled it out with the virus. It’s crazy to think that a common cold for us, can be such a struggle for kiddies like Spencer. It just goes to show if you are sick, stay home, it isn’t for your sake, but for the sake of the vulnerable, the disabled, the elderly and all those with weakened immune systems.

Timing wasn’t the greatest, my partner was working overtime in the mines, and I still had my two older kids to manage whilst I was in hospital with Spencer, the mum guilt was insane… It was at this point I realised I needed to accept the help that came my way. I am truly grateful for those who stepped in to help and to everyone who reached out and sent love our way. One particular friend of mine went above and beyond helping to make sure my daughter received the attention and love she needed during this time.  Between my mum and my good friend Toby, my daughter got the attention she needed.

It’s during this stressful time; my daughter struggles the most. Split homes are not always easy, which makes times with my children precious. My daughter will often unleash her feelings in her behaviour which isn’t always the right behaviour at school. It’s been the toughest on her to lose a lot of attention due to her brothers’ disability. She’s had a lot of changes happen all at once and had to adapt to a lot of moving around and people coming and going.

They say it takes a village to raise kids, and I truly believe this. This week I had my village come to the rescue and I couldn’t have done it without them. My son and daughter were showered with love, and I was able to stress less and focus on getting my son healthy again. The hospital staff were amazing. I cannot thank everyone enough for their help and support.

I am so Grateful for everyone that helped this week. This week was a positive reminder of all the amazing people in mine and my kid’s life. Remember help is always out there…
